Performance Arts Festival

The Sauk County Performance Arts Festival will be held Saturday, April 21 from 9am to 1pm at the CAL Center in  Reedsburg.  The Performance Arts Festival provides opportunities for 4-H members to further develop their skills in the performance arts and to share their talents and skills with the public.  We encourage youth to choreograph their routines and write their speaking/drama content.  Overall this event is a celebration of expression and performance.

Any member of Sauk County 4-H may enter Youth do not need to be enrolled in any specific 4-H project to participate. Cloverbuds (those in kindergarten-2nd grade) are encouraged to participate.  Please send in your 2018 Performing Arts Festival Registration Form to the Sauk County UW Extension Office by April 10th at 4:30pm.

Sauk County Poultry Annual Animal/Vendor Swap

Sauk County Poultry Club is holding its Annual Poultry Swap on Saturday, April 21 at the Sauk County Fairgrounds. The swap starts at 7 am and will end around 12 pm.  Fees are $8 for a sellers fee and $5 for a buyers fee with kids under 14 free Must have proper paperwork for all animals.  No hoof stock.  Please complete a Poultry Swap Registration Form if you plan on participating as a vendor.  Questions?  Contact Missy Even at 608-393-5382 or Delvin Craker at 608-477-3054.


4-H Summer Assistant Position Now Available

Sauk County 4-H is currently hiring a 4-H Summer Assistant.  This fun and rewarding job provide assistant to the Sauk County 4-H Youth Development program during the summer months.  This skill-building position will increase knowledge of youth development programs, community partnerships, volunteer development while working in the University of Wisconsin- Extension setting.  To learn more about the job, please see out 2018 Summer Assistant Job Description.

Creative Writing Contest

Spring is just around the corner, so it’s time to get your creative juices flowing with the 4-H Creative Writing Contest!  Creative Writing categories are:

  • Single poem
  • Short story
  • One-act of a play (written by an individual)
  • Collection of up to 12 poems
  • One chapter of a book
  • Or other writing category
  • One Act of a play (group written, by a maximum of 6 people)

You may provide an exhibit in one category, or have an exhibit for each category if you wish.

The exhibit(s) and a completed submission form attached to each exhibit must be mailed to or dropped off at the Extension Office, Attn: 4-H Creative Writing, 505 Broadway, Baraboo, WI 53913 before 4:30PM, MAY 17th.  Exhibits will be reviewed by a judge and a written critique will be completed for each exhibit.

Your creative writing must be entered with your other Fair entries through the Sauk County Fair Board in order to receive your premium.  You will need to enter your correct categories, found in Department 18 (Cultural Arts) in Class 29.

Sauk Count Rabbit Project Youth Fun Show

Join us for the Sauk County Rabbit Project Youth Fun Show!  The show will be held Saturday, May 26 at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in the Commercial Building.  It is open to all youth including youth not enrolled in 4-H.  The building opens at 7:30, registration begins at 8am and judging begins at 9am.   Entry fee is $3 per rabbit and $2 if entered by May 19.  Entry forms can be found HERE.  Questions?  Call Kim Klicko at 608-393-1116 or kklicko@yahoo.com
