Sauk County 4-H Art Showcase

The 4-H Art Showcase will be open to all 4-H members in the Clothing, Knitting, and Crocheting Project as well as any 4-H members, groups or 4-H Clubs who participated in the Performance Arts Festival in April. The 4-H Art Showcase is scheduled for Thursday, July 12 at 7:00 PM. To participate in the 4-H Art Showcase you must register with the registration form is online at here.  Registration forms are due Tuesday, July 10, before noon to the UWEX office, they may also be emailed to Allison at: uwexsummerintern@gmail.com.  Plan to meet in the Badger Building by 6:45PM. Cloverbud Day Camp  

Calling all Kindergarten – 2nd graders (as of fall of 2017) to this year’s Cloverbud Day Camps. These day camps are designed to help Cloverbuds make new friends and have fun while creating and learning about different topics!  This year’s day camps will be Tuesday, July 24 and Thursday, July 26 both from 9 am – 12 pm. Youth may attend one day or both days.  There is a $10 fee per day for each 4-H member and a $15 fee per day for youth not in 4-H.

The Tuesday camp theme is “Cranes around the World” and will be at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo. Youth will learn about cranes through interactive activities, crafts, and games as well as see live birds!

The Thursday camp will be “Delights of Dairy” at the US Dairy Forage Research Center located in Prairie du Sac. Come out, see the cows, and learn all about the farm with an interactive farm tour. Then join us in the classroom for games, crafts, and ice cream making!

Discover Wisconsin

Come join the fun August 1-3, 2018 for a trip to the Fox Cities in Northeast Wisconsin! We will have the opportunity to stay on a college campus, explore Wisconsin’s rich history through museum visits, enjoy the beautiful weather with outdoor activities like hiking and swimming and have a thrilling ride on a roller coaster at Bay Beach! All this and more to come on the 2018 Discover Wisconsin Trip! This trip is open to 4-H youth in grades 6-8 in fall of 2017. 32nd Pullet Surprize Youth Contest

In an attempt to promote the breeding and exhibition of purebred poultry among Wisconsin’s youth, the Wisconsin International Poultry Club invites interested youth to apply for the Pullet Surprise.
The winners in each of the two categories will receive the following prizes: a pair of show quality purebred fowl, an incubator, a standard cage, feed, a copy of the American Standard of Perfection, a one-year membership in the WIPC, and a poultry carrier. All awards will be presented at the 2018 Wisconsin International Poultry Club Show. The birds awarded will be provided by the members of the Wisconsin International Poultry Club.

4-H Avian Quiz Bowl

The Avian Quiz Bowl will consist of two- to four-member teams (3 or 4 are encouraged.) Teams will be quizzed on various aspects of poultry and eggs from hatching to management to cooking, competing against other teams in a game show format.  There will be both a junior (under 14 yr) and senior (14-18 yr) division. Senior division winners will represent the State of Wisconsin at the 4-H National Poultry & Egg Conference held in Louisville, KY.  Participants must be 4-H members.  The registration form can be found at the end of the 2018 Avian Quiz Bowl informational packet.

The 4-H Avian Bowl Manual (4-H MANUAL 161) (2016 version) will be used for questions. It is available for $15 from:

The Quiz Bowl competition will be held on September 29 at the Columbia County Fairgrounds in Portage, WI. **TIME TBD** Advanced registration is due by September 1, 2018.
