Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) Accepting Applications

The Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) is accepting applications. SCIL is a nine month leadership development program that targets emerging leaders that live or work in Sauk County. The participants meet once a month from September through May on the second Thursday of each month. The first session is an overnight retreat and the remaining eight are day-long sessions. Each session focuses on a different set of leadership skills and community issues. The workshops include both classroom and project-based experiences designed to ensure an engaging learning process.

As a result of the program SCIL graduates have identified a significant increase in their understanding of community issues and leadership practices as well as the confidence to take on new leadership roles in their homes, communities and/or places of employment. SCIL graduates also noted substantial improvements in their effectiveness as decision makers and leaders in their current roles. They also valued the opportunity to grow and develop a diverse network of local resources and contacts.

A recent SCIL participant shared the following:

“SCIL has been the best leadership development experience I have had. This opportunity was packed full of exercises and presenters that helped to develop new skills and sharpen others that already existed. There were many valuable lessons learned that I will be able to use not only in my professional life but also personally. The course content has been masterfully organized to provide a great perspective of all the elements associated with Sauk County and how they work together, need each other, and affect each other.”

The Sauk County Institute of Leadership has openings limited to 25 people who represent a variety of backgrounds and interests. The cost of attending the program is $525 per participant. It may be paid by the participant, employer, sponsor, or from a combination of sources. Limited scholarship assistance is available.  Applications are due July 1st and additional information is available at SCIL fb or through the SCIL Program Coordinator who can be reached at
